ORIGIN OF VEGAS' NAME PHOTO GALLERY HOME

Etymology: Vega is the brightest star in the constellation Lyra (it represents a jewel set in the body of the harp), the fifth brightest star in the sky and the second brightest star in the Norther celestial hemisphere. In approximately AD 14,000, Vega will become the North Star, owing to the precession of the equinoxes.
"Vegas" is the name of a character that I (Mike) used when writing a short story during my stay in Chamonix. I thought at the time that it would be a big name for my first son, Casey agreed, so here he is...

Vega (Spanish) - Fertile valley.
